Yet another reason to never use a smartphone. I won't be participating in any "rewards programs" either, because NOTHING is ever really free, when you think about it.
These reward programs are such, like Staples and Safeway cards to save money and get possible coupons at check out, when in fact, all they are doing is DATA MINING by recording what you purchase. So that is like ripping off your privacy, and possibly your credit card, if you pay by one, or grabbing your checking account number if paid by check. There are dishonest people in the world.
Safeway: Do you have your Safeway card?
Customer: No
Safeway: Give us your phone number and it will pull up the card info.
Customer: No, I don't have a card, and my phone is private.
Same scenario with Staples Office Supply.
DATA MINING and TRACKING... Get it?
Not suspicious of much, eh?
