Protease enzyme is a great virus fighter.

Those proteolytic enzymes do a number on the all-important exterior protein coating of the virus. They eat it! Remember the virus is active as long as it's coating is in tact. What happens when a virus cannot complete and Isoprin bond? Well, simply it becomes inert - harmless!

Protease eats up the protein covering (a virus's armor), thereby taking down the virus's defense.

Protease Inhibitors and Protease Deficiency

What is a protease inhibitor? It’s an antiviral drug that’s commonly used to treat patients with HIV/AIDS and hepatitis C. Protease inhibitors prevent viral replication by blocking protease so new HIV will not become a mature virus that can infect other cells (specifically called CD4 cells).
