Hospitals are now pushing for 90% of their healthcare workers to be vaccinated. BUT IT DOESN'T END WITH HEALTHCARE EMPLOYEES.

Did you know that it is now protocol that upon entering the hospital, every patient be asked if they’ve received a flu shot? If the answer is no, they are offered one. EVERY. SINGLE. PATIENT.

Please know that the majority of states still offer a religious exemption (Excluding CA, WV, MS). To my knowledge, healthcare workers have until October 31st to submit a religious exemption form. Unfortunately, most hospitals will make you appear before a committee and present your case. This has intimidated many employees into receiving the shot, because they are not well-versed or armed with the correct information-at-hand to present such a case. In an effort to help, we have provided a sample letter for you to use or modify if you want to refuse the vaccination.

If for whatever reason you are still forced to take the influenza vaccination, we recommend you ask the following questions:

--What is the lot number, manufacturer and name of the vaccine?

--May I see the insert for the vaccine?

--What are the contraindications for immunocompromised people or those with allergies? **PLEASE NOTE** EGG ALLERGY NO LONGER CONSIDERED MEDICAL EXEMPTION. Egg allergy is no longer a medical contraindication. You must contact OHS to have your name added to the list of employees who require egg-free vaccine. When egg-free vaccine becomes available this fall, OHS will contact employees who require it.
